7 agos 1964 año - The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution
Descripción:
The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution was a very interesting move. It gave the US president a lot of power. It allowed him to take any action that may be necessary to repel any armed aggression. It also allowed him to defend South Vietnam as much as he wanted. This was brought up because a North Vietnamese torpedo boat, (or more), attacked two American destroyers. Those destroyers were at the Gulf of Tonkin, which is why it is called the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution. Now the US was all in for the war over South Vietnam. The US wanted to do anything they could to stop Communism from spreading. That is why this is important. They already tried making North Vietnam Communist and South not. That whole thing started okay, but eventually started the war between Vietnam. The US wanted to make sure South Vietnam won the war, so President Lyndon B Johnson made the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution. He got it signed in only a few short days, and the US was in.
