In 1933, the American Company SOCAL (Standard of Oil California) was granted permission by Saudi Arabia to find oil in the nation, which they discovered in 1938. This would lead to the cemented foundation of the United States having involvement in the Middle East, to feed its warmachine a large supply of oil. This photograph taken of the concession signing, depicts Finance Minister ‘Abd Allah Al-Sulayman and and Standard Oil Company of California attorney Lloyd N. Hamilton finalize the negotiations that had dragged on for more than three months.
