20 agos 1985 año - Nicaragua and the Iran-Contra Scandal
Descripción:
November 1979, US put an embargo on Iran to respond, Iranian militants took Americans hostage inside the US embassy in Iran.
In Nicaragua, Sandinista guerrillas overthrew the government so they became a communistic country.
The US was in a bind, not having money to send troops to Nicaragua and save the Americans taken hostage. So Reagan looked for a resolution.
Administration dealt with the Iranians by lifting the embargo and selling weapons. The Iranians, as a result, released the hostages. The US then took the millions of dollars they made of weapons sales to Iran, to send money and troops to Nicaragua.
