27 abr 1954 año - Donald Moore led Negro Citizenship Association to Ottawa

Descripción:

Donald Moore started the Negro Citizenship Association. This organization was a group that’s goal was to allow more Black West Indians to enter Canada and change the racist and exclusionary immigration policies. They also wanted to stop people that were being deported from being incarcerated. On April 27, 1954, Donald Moore led a group to Ottawa to present a brief that described how the immigration policies were discriminatory and proposed changes to improve them and give everyone equal immigration status. This helped many Black immigrants come to Canada, specifically many West Indian nurses and domestic workers were able to find jobs in Canada later on.
