Description: The battle Hastings was a battle to decide the king of England. It was Edward who took over the crown but, that made William o of Normandy Angry. He convinced the Pope to help him which caused other countries to join on William's side and they won the battle even though they had a smaller army.
Why it mattered:
1. Because the Normans won it changed the whole way the English lived. IT also altered their language and brought about what we speak today, modern English.
2. it shows the power that the Pope held in those times, which is way to much for one human being and we should never let one person have that much control over us.
3. Because of the Battle of Hastings, one of the largest and most well-known pieces of art was created, The Bayeux Tapestry
