Back before the Super Bowl was even called the Super Bowl, the Packers won it. The Packers were favored to win this game, and sure enough, they did. Their opponent was the Kansas City Chiefs. Back then, the Super Bowl was a championship game between the best of the AFL and the NFL. The AFL stands for the American Football League, which hadn't yet merged with the NFL. This was a big deal because it would decide which football league was better. Packers coach Vince Lombardi stated after the game that even the best AFL team; the Chiefs, "doesn't compare with the top NFL teams." This Championship win inspired many Americans to cheer for the Packers because they were just so good. Hundreds of thousands of people gathered in the stadium to watch, and even more, watched on the TV. The Super Bowl unites people together for, or against a certain team.Añadido al timeline:
