In the weeks after the successful D-day invasion, hundreds of thousands of Allied troops landed in France. The allied troops started making their way to Germany and the Soviet Union invaded Germany from the east. Even though Germany's demise seemed inevitable, Hitler refused to surrender. In July 1944, Allied forces broke through the German Defenses and took Paris. Germany tried to push through a weak spot in Allied lines and take Belgium (this is when The Battle of the Bulge happened), even after this German aggression the Allies recovered quickly and pushed further into Germany. In the Final months, the Allied forces ran important bombing runs on major German cities such as Berlin, and Hamburg. As allied forces started to surround Berlin, Hilter retreated to his underground bunker in Berlin. What really happened to Hitler is still conspired to this day but the most likely reason is that he shot himself in his bunker in Berlin. As this was happening Soviet troops rushed into Berlin. Then a week later Germany surrendered, ending WWII in Europe.
