31 ene 1921 año - Emergency Quota Act
Descripción:
This act was meant to minimize “undesirables.”
The US only wanted certain types of immigrants. They wanted North-West Europe immigrants. So they created a way to keep “undesirables” (Asians and East Europeans) out.
This Act determined how many to let in from each country; more were let in from "desirable" countries. Japanese immigrants stopped being let in.
Before the war, the US had about 1 million immigrants each year. After war, 150k total came each year.
Unrestricted immigration ends. Permanently.
