This was one of the larger rebellions against foreign rule. Many “boxers” (Chinese rebels) started attacking Chinese collaborators (the small percentage of Chinese profiting from imperialism). Many outside countries contributed soldiers to put it down. Countries that would be at war against one another soon (ex. France and Germany) were working together.
The US said they were interfering in order to preserve free trade, but it was more about a greed for money.
