served as Lord High Treasurer under King William III and Queen Anne. entered politics as a Member of Parliament in the 1660s. he was a prominent member of the Tory Party and rose to prominence in the late 1670s as a supporter of King Charles II's policies.
during the reign of King William III, who appointed him as Lord High Treasurer in 1690. In this role, Danby was responsible for managing the government's finances and played a key role in financing the Nine Years' War against France. He was also instrumental in passing the Act of Settlement in 1701
