My mother, Rosalba Sanchez, migrated from Michoacan Mexico to San Diego, California, a few days after she turned 18 years old. She migrated because she wanted to work and be able to provide money for my grandmother and the rest of her siblings in Mexico. My mother is the 4th oldest out of eight siblings. She moved to the United States a few years after NAFTA had come into place, so the peso was devalued.
