There was an abundance of refugees called Boat People fleeing their country after the Vietnam War. Canada played a huge role in the resettlement and car of these refugees, taking in thousands and proving themselves to no longer be the country with discriminatory immigration policies. Canadians were even awarded a medal by the UN for their efforts.
