Thomas Newcomen's steam engine was invented in Devon, England in 1712.Thomas Newcomen invented the steam engine to pump water out of coal mines. The machine worked by harnessing steam and pressure. It was a big change and helped Britain in many aspects such as the society and economy.
This also lead to the beginning of the Industrial Revolution where many useful inventions were created.
