The 1896 Plessy v. Ferguson decision claimed separation of races equal, including separating in public facilities and education. In the mid 1900s, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (naacp) challenged school segregation in a series of court cases, eventually winning the case, declaring that there are intangible inequalities presence in segregation as Earl Warren rejected the Plessy doctrine, The Brown v. Board declaration that “separate educational facilities are inherently unequal” helped break the standard of states segregation and started the American civil rights movement. Finally, after the Brown v. Board Education, Federal government turns against segregation.
