Aenys I's younger son, Jaehaerys launched a rebellion against Maegor with the aid of his and his siblings' dragons, including that of Queen Rhaena who had been made one of Maegor's Black Brides but fled to support Jaehaerys when he rebelled. Many lords supported Jaehaerys and very few responded to Maegor's calls for his banners. Jaehaerys arrived in King's Landing after Maegor was found dead and he claimed the throne. His mother, Alyssa Velaryon served as his regent for the first two years of his reign until he turned 16.
