30 sept 1938 año - German Appeasement… ending with the invasion of Poland

Descripción:

The British policy of the 1930s that permitted Hitler to uncheckedly expand German territory was known as the "German Appeasement."
Hitler's intentions to expand his power were made evident when his troops stormed the Rhineland in 1936 and when he annexed Austria in March 1938.
On September 1, 1939, German armies invaded Poland, starting World War Two. As a result of German aggression, France and Great Britain declared war on Hitler's Germany. Nazi Germany had a colossal military advantage over Poland.\
The Munich Accord was joyfully received in Britain. Winston Churchill, who was then at odds with the government and one of the few to resist appeasing Hitler, however, called it "an utter calamity."
The appeasement was popular for several reasons, the British people were desperate to avoid the slaughter of WW2.
As its empire's police force, Britain was overburdened and unable to fund significant rearmament. Its main ally, France, was severely compromised, and unlike in the First World War, support from the Commonwealth was not guaranteed. Also, many Britons had sympathy for Germany.
