30 sept 1938 año - German Appeasement
Descripción:
The German appeasement was led by British Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain. His government devised a policy where the actions of the fascist Italians and the German Nazis were left mostly unopposed in the few years before the start of World War 2. Germany was able to annex Austria and join the countries politically. After the success of this, Adolf Hitler then went on to annex Sudetenland in west Czechoslovakia. Britain (and France) were both unable to see how they could stop the Germans from taking power in Czechoslovakia. They even urged the Czech government to make whatever concessions it needed to, in order to achieve peace. Chamberlain met with Hitler a number of times to try to broker agreements so that the German army would not start a war in Czechoslovakia. The Munich Agreement was signed on September 29th, 1938 by Neville Chamberlain, Adolf Hitler, and Benito Mussolini. Even though appeasement was not the way to go forward, it was able to help buy some time for the Allies to prepare for the war.
