27 feb 538 año aC - Daniel 11 Prophecy of the
Battle of the North v South
Descripción:
Michael, 'your prince' shows to Darius, probably after the 'lions den debacle' (ch 6) and Darius recognition of the God of Israel.
"26 I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end.
27 He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions."
Michael "stood to confirm and to strengthen (Darius).
2 And now will I shew thee the truth."
He goes on to show Darius the succession of Kings and Kingdoms that would come after he died which would include after Cyrus,
1. Cambeses
2. Bardiya (Smerdis)
3. Darius the Great
4. Xerxes 1
Xerxes (the 4th v2) was far richer than those previous but only because he inherited the wealth and standing of Darius the Great. (see notes on 'Darius the Great' and 'Esther becomes Queen')
He raised what is believed to be the largest ever army to date, according to Herodotus who lived contemporaneously, to 5,283,220 and pushed them to expand his borders all ways, but most notably as scriptures explain, westward against the realm of Grecia.
There he suffered a series of defeats including the Battle of Salamis and the Battle of Plataea and retreated. He had successfully managed to stir up the Greeks, who after only a mere hundred years later galvanised under Philip of Macedon and subsequently under Alexander the Great and introduced the Subject of verse 3.
Alexander conquered the majesty and power of the Persians and went right across to the river Indus before returning to die in Persia after a drunken bout at the height of his strength.
*Further notes are being prepared on this subject which will be included as an attachment.
