In 1910, Japan fully annexed Korea and expanded its developing Colonial Empire. While the Japanese government helped Korea industriliaze and develop itself, it did this for the sole purpose of extracting and exploiting resources such as raw materials (timber), food (mostly rice and fish), and mineral resources (coal and iron ore) for itself and its ever-growing demand for resources it lacked.
