The British East India Company would be able to sell tea leaves at a cheaper price than ever before. This monopolized the American tea business. The colonists saw this as a trick into paying taxes with bait of cheaper tea. This is significant because it made the colonists have less trust in England and feel like they are getting tricked into paying taxes.
