28 mar 1979 año - Three Mile Island Nuclear Incident

Descripción:

March 28th 1979, the nuclear power plant at Three Mile Island experienced an issue that led to a level 5 nuclear disaster. Following the system’s failure to send water to the steam generators, which cooled the reactor’s core and then another chain of events happened which caused the turbine generator to fail and stop completely. The reactor then shut down and instruments that were inside of the control room read the wrong information to the people working there which then led the core to overheat which sparked the disaster. This event not only led to lessening of public trust in nuclear power plant facilities, but also to stricter and safer rules/requirements by the NRC in these plants that are to ensure public safety.
