Groups that faced difficulty getting hired:
-women had to work, ppl said they wanted to buy friolous items, but they said they needed to support their kids, men created unions to exclude women
-african Americans across the country fved prejudice+discrimination. African American women in the north weren't given office work/other new job opportunities. They were mostly stuck in domestic service (cooking, servants). African American men were turned away from corporations with vertical integration. Many worked in personal service.

On the other hand, immigrants got hired frequently.
