King George was highly disliked by the colonists because he heavily taxed the colonists, created the intolerable acts and put the royal proclamation into effect. He was the king of Great Britain between 1760 to 1820. Although he was a honest and sincere ruler, he couldn't deal with the Americans efficiently. The colonists hated the fact that he heavily taxed them and punished them.
