Cyrus McCormick at age 22 attempted to resemble a two-wheeled, horse-drawn chariot, the machine had a vibrating cutting blade, a reel to bring the grain within its reach, and a platform to receive the falling grain in 1831. He made a final product in 18 months and got a patent in 1834.
