After ruling the Duchy of Southern Oipienta before the Lesser War, the Erastab lords were demoted to Earls of Lower Oipientia. However, they rebelled against King Rílen One-Eye during the Southern Revolt due to both the Serpentan War and losing their titles as the Dukes of Southern Oipienta.

After the revolt, Earl Pilos Erastab of Epizen created the Kingdom of Baropenta and his family controlled the kingdom until they were usurped by a rival family, the Lords of Atetak Sok Barob, the Oerstasdars, during the Barob Insurrection in 1034. The Erastabs continued to rule over Epizen and during the Baropentan War, secretly helped Oipienta to win against the King Javik Oerstasdar. This decision to aid Oipienta allowed Lord Rikjosert Erastab to be granted the newly created Duchy of Lower Oipienta.
