Wanting to make a change in the lives of thousands of pets on death row, Tony and Elaine used donated office space and a small group of driven volunteers to make the Animal Rescue Foundation. The ARF eventually changes society's thoughts on high-kill shelters, impacts thousands of animals and humans, and has other thousands of kids, adults and elderly, that support it. If Tony La Russa didn't decide to make this foundation, there would still be an abundance of high-kill shelters. People would still abandon their pets and give them to those shelters, instead of having a foundation like this which makes sure that the animals end up in a safe and loving home. Educating young kids and the public also raises awareness about these high-kill shelters that a lot of people probably wouldn't of known about. Many people are for this foundation because, every year we learn more and more about animal rights and why they should be treated with love. We now have more animal foundations than ever because everyone cares not only for cats and dogs, but for all animals.
