All the intolerable acts that preceded The Battle of Lexington made it so tensions between Britain and The Thirteen Colonies very high. Paul Revere and some other riders were notified of some British troops intending of destroying their arms cache, that's when they rounded up their militia. A confrontation between the Redcoats and the militia took place in Lexington town giving The Battle of Lexington it's namesake. It was 700 to 77 in favour of the British so when a British Major yelled "Throw down your arms! Ye villains, ye rebels." the rebels meant to retreat but a shot rang out. Nobody knows which side shot first but it marked the beginning of a losing battle for the militia. But it was not the end. After the battle British Troops went looking for more arms to burn but they were sadly mistaken when 2000 militia men made an appearance and made it so they had to retreat.
