Descripción:
James IV of Scotland and Henry VII of England signed the Treaty of Perpetual Peace in 1502. It agreed that neither king should stage war against the other, with the threat of ex-communication by the pope if they failed to uphold this task. The treaty was broken 11 years after it was created when King James IV declared war against England.

What does this tell us about peace?
The maintenance of peace within a treaty can become difficult without constant communication and renegotiation. Declaring a 'perpetual' peace can be unsustainable.
