1 ene 600 año aC - Naples was founded about 600 BCE as Neapolis (“New City”)

Descripción:

Founded in 600 BCE as the city of Neapolis by Greek colonizers, the city was located geographically close to the older city of Palaiopolis. Both cities were extensions of slightly earlier established settlements founded during the 7th and 6th century BCE on the close island of Pithecusa (now Ischia) and at Cumae on the adjacent mainland. Among a selection of evidence for the founding of the city in the 7th century BCE, is the identification of many ancient stone walls built by the Greeks, along with a portion of the necropolis located in the Pizzofalcone region dating back to the same time. Additionally, in the vicinity of the Via S. Giacomo, a wall structure, constructed in blocks of tufa, has recently been discovered. It dates back to the 6th BCE and likely belongs to the more ancient city of Palaiopolis.
