1 ene 2010 año - Bioengineers at J. Craig Venter Institute developed the first self-replicating life made from synthetic DNA.

Descripción:

Using computers, 46 researchers created a genome. They printed this DNA in chunks and allowed the pieces to self-assemble in a yeast cell. Within a few hours, the researchers witnessed an organism develop. This breakthrough showed the world of genetics that a genome can be synthesized by man. This self-assembling DNA can possibly provide cheap biofuels, medicines, and other compounds.
