- A banquet, planned by Nicholas to celebrate his coronation
- At a major park in Moscow called the Khondyka Field
- Part of this celebration included a giveaway of gifts, such as a bread roll, a piece of sausage, pretzels, gingerbread and a cup of beer. There was also rumoured to be a gold coin at the bottom of each beer
- By 5am it is estimated there were 500,000 people
- Rumours spread there weren't enough gifts
- Catastrophic stampede occurred
- 1389 people trampled to death
- Another 1300 injured
