Although widely reported that Johnny Depp had a tumble or fell whilst leaving the Hotel restaurant, closer examination shows that a prankster knocked Johnny over after the crowd pushed forward and were allowed to get too close to him, asking for autographs whilst Johnny’s friend Josh Richman pushed back saying’ sorry guys’.
Johnny seems somewhat stunned by the fall and a little disorientated for a few seconds whilst Josh tries to hold him steady and the bodyguards arrive. Starling Jenkins is seen on the pavement and Jerry Judge is in the car.
The videographer does not appear to believe Johnny fell - note: ‘to drop someone’ is to cause them to fall down.
- Whoa.. you dropped Johnny. - What are you doing to Johnny? - Why you do that to Johnny for? - You OK? - Hey Mr Depp are you OK?
Johnny recovered quickly enough to give some hand/arm signals once in the car but kept his head bowed so he was hidden by the brim of his hat.
The incident happened late Saturday night/early Sunday morning and was posted online later on the Sunday 9 October 2011.
