Brigadier General Francis Marionn was moving to join Brigadier General Thomas Sumter at Farr's Plantation, learned of Lt. Col. John Watson Tadwell-Watson’s planned ambush for him at Wyboo Swamp. A marshy passageway located on the Santee Road between Nelson’s Ferry and Murry’s Ferry. After a back and forth battle General Marion's cavalry drove the British off.
