Col. Henry Lee is rebuffed in his attempt to storm Johns Island defended by British regulars, under Maj. James H. Craig. Col John Laurens is supposed to attack with one column, but a second force, under Maj. James Hamilton, fails to cross the Wapoo Creek and the operation miscarries.
