1 abr 1967 año - Indigenous Referendum 1967
On this day after 10 years of
campaigning a special referendum
was held in the Australian Constitution
on whether or not the first nations people
would be recognised. Almost 91% of
people voted yes and from then on
they were treated as equal citizens
and counted in the population as well
as having special laws just for them.
This was a big step of their lives and
helped them be treated better.
