MacArthur a WWII hero developed a plan to drive the North Koreans back. His plan was to attack behind enemy lines due to all North Korean forces being in the South. His plan to attack Inchon worked and the North Koreans came running back. A mistake MacArthur made was advancing too far into enemy territory at the Chinese border at Yalu River which resulted in his forces being attacked and pushed back by the Chinese.
