1 abr 1896 año - Population Growth
Descripción:
In 1896-1914 Canada received a lot of growth in their population. Many immigrants from different countries chose to move to Canada in order to have a better lifestyle. When Clifford Sifton was prime minister he focused on using pull factors so that more immigrants would come to Canada from their foreign country. He offered 160 acres of land for any new immigrants. He posted all of this in many newspapers as ads so that he could attract more settlers. His plan worked. Soon he attracted many new immigrants from the United States and Britain. Some tactics that he used in order to attract more immigrants was by building more Canadian fairs, posting ads, and encouraging many settlers to tell their friends and family members to join them. During these times the population in Manitoba tripled from 1891 to 1911.
