Alexander Ramsey, the Minnesota Governor, proclaimed that “the Sioux Indians of Minnesota must be exterminated or driven forever beyond the borders of the state.” Around 1600 Dakota people are exiled from the Lower Sioux Agency. On their way down the trail, they are attacked by angry settlers.
