Elsa isn’t there to pick up Sam from school. He has to walk home alone. Gets home, looks for Elsa and finds her in her room being raped by Benjamin. Sam is horrified, stomach ache intense. Elsa screams at him go away. Sam hides in his wardrobe crying.

Benjamin finds him hours later and tells him that he was giving Elsa his appreciation. That those were happy screams. But that Sam interrupted and scared Elsa away. She’s gone now. Sam never sees her again.

He is heartbroken and that bitterness and anger begins as he’s just old enough to know his father did something wrong. Benjamin makes Sam keep it a secret because ‘it’ll only upset your mam’. Sam keeps it secret, still too young to know better also.

May, 2002 – Without Elsa, Sam has to go to a child minder, who is fine but he is picked on by the other children for being chubby. He hates them and misses Elsa. He is also suffering terribly from stomach aches and spends long hours on the toilet.
