17 h 3 m, 6 abr 1941 año - Battle of Greece and Invasion of Yugoslavia
Descripción:
On April 6, 1941, Germany invaded the nations of the Kingdom of Greece and the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, located in the Balkans. There, the Germans helped Italy who had been interested in this area, especially in the Kingdom of Greece. The invasion did not take in desisting the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, because its army was much weaker and inferior than the one of Hitler.
But a much more extensive struggle took place in the Kingdom of Greece. The Battle of Greece had begun in 1940, when the Italian army of Mussolini tried to dominate the area. However, the Greeks managed to push back Italy, causing it to be returned to Italian Albania, which at that time was dominated by the Italians. But months later, in April 1941, Germany came to the aid of the Italian army and together they attacked Greece. They enter from the Kingdom of Bulgaria (Operation Marita) and begin a great struggle in Greek territory. For its part, the United Kingdom sent its troops to defend Greece, but this did not stop the Axis powers and by May, Greece was dominated by German and Italian forces.
