2 h 58 m, 13 mayo 1940 año - the battle of france
Descripción:
After the attacks in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, the Germans invaded one of their main enemies: France. The German invasion of France was one of the most important and key moments of the war.
Germany began its invasion in the region of the Ardennes (Battle of Sedan), advancing rapidly to the west. Hitler's army managed to advance without major complications, crushing a large part of the French army. However, when the Wehrmacht were a few kilometers from Dunkirk, Hitler ordered the advance to be halted. This caused that French and British soldiers were surrounded and fled from Dunkirk by the English Channel (Operation Dinamo). Thus, the Germans were conquering the French territory. During the same period, the Kingdom of Italy, the main ally of Germany, declared war on France and attacked it from the south, causing the capture of France to advance rapidly.
After seven weeks of battle, France realizes that it can not against the German troops, which is why the French sign an armistice with Germany, in which the Germans occupy the northern half of the country, including the capital Paris, and in so much, the southern half would be free, with a puppet government of strong German and Nazi influence. This government was called Vichy France in honor of the new capital of the same name. The Kingdom of Italy, on the other hand, occupied a portion of southern France. This battle took place (really) on May 13, 1940.
