12 nov 1918 año - mutilated victory
Descripción:
term used to describe the war outcome by nationalists who felt cheated by the Allies
italian negotiators faced several problems:
- although italy received most of the territories promise in the ToL, many were dissatisified with the ToV
- demands made for Fiume and Brenner pass
other issues:
- the disintegration of the austro-hunagarian empire and creation of yugoslavia resulted in its borders being on and taking over certain parts of italy - areas that nationalists believed should belong to italy
- Woodrow Wilson believed in liberal nationalism/national self-determinism which interfered with italian plans to takeover german-speaking lands and italy was diplomatically isolated by this
- didnt receive Fiume - which became a symbol of nationalist pride
- didnt receive german colonies in Africa
although:
- italy was however granted Trieste, Trentino, Istria, and the Brenner including other land that wasnt included in the ToL
- italy was given an official seat in the league of nations
