16 h 37 m, 24 mar 1853 año - In 1853, the elevator safety
break was invented by Elisha
Otis in America. *
Descripción:
Prior to the invention of the elevator safety break, if one of the cables on an elevator broke, people could fall off the elevator, causing almost certain death. It depended on springs that pushed hooks on metal teeth on the side of the elevator if the tension in the rope was released.
This enabled the modern city to grow but allowing taller skyscrapers to be built.
