When Alexander conquered Punjab-Afghanisthan, before returning to Greece, he made an arrangement of placing these territories under generals. Asia was assigned to Selucus Nicator and after he lost to Chandragupta Maurya, they exchanged ambassadors.
Megasthanese as an ambassador stayed for a decade at Pataliputra.
In his book, 'Indica', he also wrote about Satavaahanas.
Later, Antiochus I, the successor of Selucus removed Megasthenes and appointed Deimachus as the ambassodor to the court of Bindusara.
