The Roosevelt Corollary is an extension to the Monroe Doctrine, declaring that in the event of a European country intervening with "chronic wrongdoing" intentions in the Western Hemisphere, specifically Latin and South America, the United States would intervene, serving to "the purposes of international police."

President Theodore Roosevelt delivered the Roosevelt Corollary in response to the naval blockade by Great Britain, Germany, and Italy during the Valenzuela Debt Crisis.
