With WWII over, the Soviet Union no longer had any reason to work with the other ally countries. So, they used their new territory to spread the influence of communism. America, with pride in democaracy, determined that it was the US's job to stop the spread of communism and contain it to where it already was by getting involved in foreign affairs. The Truman Doctrine supported these policies and made them official.
