28 jul 1932 año - Bonus Army March

Descripción:

As a result of the Great Depression, a group made up of 17,000 WWI Veterans called the "Bonus Expeditionary Forces" organized a protest in Washington D.C., demanding for their payment that was promised after World War I.

President Herbert Hoover authorized General Douglas MacArthur to drive the protestors away from the white house (protestors were sitting and setting up camps in front of the white house yard), throwing tear gas at the protestors.

As a result, 2 veterans were wounded and "at least 259 veterans" died.

This would cost President Herbert Hoover's re-election against Franklin D. Roosevelt.
