"No man can serve two masters!" exclaimed the angry King Alexander II. "One can quite well serve two masters provided the masters are not enemies" was Ewan's quiet reply. Soon afterwards Alexander II died at Horseshoe Bay on July 8, 1249 and so the invasion was cancelled.
