Durring this famous battle, the Spanish fleet of ships was defeated in the Philippines by US naval forces. This amounted to the fall of the Philippines and aided in the final US victory in the Spanish-American War. This Battle was a huge success for the United States, as it reduced the Spanish navy and provided good publicity of the US success in the war for US citizens.
