During a speech given by President Ronald Reagan in West Berlin, Reagan addresses Gorbachev and says, “tear down this wall”. Reagan was referring to the wall splitting West and East Berlin. This event is significant because Reagan’s speech put pressure on Gorbachev to allow people to freely pass between West and East Berlin.
